“Riders stepping off the Denver to Golden Interurban tram were greeted by a stout man calling, ‘Ride the donkeys. Ride the donkeys. Climb to the top of Castle Rock.’ For a small fee, intrepid visitors would travel to the heights of South Table Mountain on the backs of Charlie Quaintance’s donkeys. Photographs were an extra charge.”
